Big plus of the ASIAir is that it's much easier to use than the alternative(s). Principal alternative is a Windows program called SharpCap which you can run on a laptop or on a mini-pc on the ota. The ZWO lock-in is a big negative. Other negatives are... while easier to control,...

Thanks very much John for your reply, very interesting. However I was more interested in retaining the avi file in video format rather than stacking. Ie processing it, maybe cropping, debayering if necessary? Plus any other tweaking. Once done hopefully the video would be in a format I cou...
I was in the market for an ASIAIR a couple of months ago and chose the Plus 256GB. I wasn’t sure that I needed the enhanced features but going for the newest model seemed like a sort of future proofing. Now if I purchase another ASIAIR, it will probably be the Mini. The Mini pro...
One recent post there suggests that the ASIAir plus works with the AZ-GTi in EQ mode, but not in ALT-AZ. No mention of the mini. I can't tell from your photo which mode you are using. j I might build my own wedge for the AZGTi. I've built a lot of them. I can built it...
If I remember correctly, I chose "D7000" or "D7100" from the ASIAir menu and I used the same cable that I use to transfer images from D7200 to a Windows desktop to connect D7200 and ASIAir Plus. No shutter release cable was needed. D7200 recognized ASIAir Plus as a "PC". #3 ...

I have five APs and almost 100x wired ports, plus a lot of fiber. I posted tests of my NAS in another thread, it saturates 2x bonded 10GbE in sequential read/writes...and that's only because I built it 6yrs ago. My next update will use 100GbE or more. It's not about ...
ASIAIR Plus has almost exactly the same range and speed as my low gain external antenna modified ASIAIR-PRO. A higher gain antenna will increase range slightly but at some point (very nearby) you are just beating your head against a wall and the antennas get ridiculously large for no gain....
