How Much Power Is Enough? The key difference between a turbocharger and a supercharger is its power supply. Something has to supply the power to move the compressed air. In a supercharger, there is a belt that connects directly to the engine. It gets its power the same way that the...
How Does a Supercharger Work? Like the turbo, the supercharger is another form of compressor, but rather than use built-up exhaust gasses, its power comes from some sort of mechanical connection to the engine. The most common method is with a belt with the other end on a pulley, which...
The key similarity between a turbocharger and supercharger is they both compress air and send it into the engine’s intake. Compressed air is denser, meaning more oxygen-rich, and when mixed with the right amount of fuel, creates more power. Forced induction is often misconstrued, as some ...
Find Out How A Turbocharger Works? A turbocharger is turbine-driven. It is a forced induction mechanical device. First, it compresses the incoming air. Then, it pumps the air into the engine cylinder at high pressure. Thus, it increases the engine’s efficiency and power output. It is a...
An intercooler is just another name for a heat exchanger that is used to cool air that has been compressed by either a Super-Charger or a Turbocharger. The intercooler is placed somewhere in the path of air that flows from the turbo/supercharger to the motor. An intercooler is needed ...

As your factory warranty comes to a close, you may find yourself wondering whether your car is safe without an extended powertrain plan. It’s smart to consider the following as you think of what a powertrain plan covers on used cars as well as high-mileage vehicles: ...
My decision is to NOT buy a supercharged or turbocharged car in the future. The final nail in the coffin is the REDICULOUS necessity of "cooling down" the turbocharger when you finish driving the car. That's like having to feed the horse after you ride home from the range!!!
