WebExtensions 取代原有扩展的意义在于,XUL 扩展过于深入 Firefox 内部,非常容易在 Firefox 现有框架更新组件的情况下失效,作者疲于更新,最后放弃更新,这是 Firefox 的阿喀琉斯之踵。Firefox 需要变得性能越来越高,需要实现多进程,内核组件更新换代,但是传统扩展反而变成了掣肘,所以才要建立一个扩展和内部分离的架构。
