Our results demonstrate that FUNDC1-dependent mitophagy is directly coupled with mitochondrial biogenesis through the PGC-1 alpha/NRF1 pathway, which dictates mitochondrial quantity, quality, and turnover and contributes to adaptive thermogenesis.
NAD+, decreased ADP and AMP contents and the ratio of AMP/ATP, reduced the level of ROS and MDA, enhanced SOD activity, evidently increased the levels of AMPK, SIRT1 and PGC-1 alpha mRNA, up-regulated the expressions of AMPK, pAMPK, SIRT1, PGC-1alpha, NRF1, TFAM and FOXO1 proteins...
Our study demonstrated that the protein expression pattern of the transcription factor pCREB/CREB, together with the protein expression of PGC-1 alpha, NRF1 and TFAM are all significantly reduced in early ages of 3xTg-AD mice. We also found reduced mRNA expression levels of PKAC-alpha, CREB,...
We hypothesized that a novel PGC-1α target in DM mediates blunted EC glycolysis and migration. Methods and Results:\nBy leveraging NRF1/2-binding defective PGC-1α, we show that PGC-1α blocks glycolysis, through PPARgamma-driven Notch induction independent of mitochondrial activation, which ...

MFG-E8 could upregulate the phosphorylation level of Akt and ERK via activating Akt/Sirt1/PGC-1 alpha and MAPK/ERK signaling pathway cascades in L6 cells, and promote the mitochondrial biogenesis of L6 cells, thereby upregulating the mRNA expression of NDUFA9, SDHA, UQCRC2, ATP5a, Nrf1, ...
Our data indicate that exposure to ropivacaine leads to reduced expression of the major mitochondrial regulator PGC-1 alpha and its downstream transcription factors NRF1 and TFAM. Ropivacaine treatment induces impairment of mitochondrial biogenesis by reducing mitochondrial mass, the ratio of mtDNA to n...
