Good afternoon, I'm trying to use the finitepmf function to find the probability mass function. However, the current version of matlab doesn't have the finitepmf. Can anyone send me an example of an alternative way to solve pmf so i can get example 5.26 working?

The p-value (denoted p) for a set of data is the probability that the given data (or something even more unusual) would occur if the hypothesis being tested is not true. How do you find p-value from z-statistic? To calculate the p-value, first find the test statistic, a value that...
Explain how to find probability distribution from the Probability Density Function (PDF). Probability Distribution Function: The probability distribution function is also known as the cumulation distribution function. The cumulative distribution function is a non-decreasing and non-negative fun...
This question is from problem 4.1 of the book Introduction to Probability, 2nd edition": If XX is a random variable that is uniformly distributed between −1−1 and 11. Find the PDF of |x|−−√|x| and the PDF of −ln(|x|)−ln(|x|). The solution ...
Finding the mean of a probability distribution is easy in probability and statistics—if you know how. This how to will guide you through a few simple steps necessary to find the mean of the probability distribution or binomial distribution. You’ll often find these types of...
Formula for the probability of A and B (dependentevents): p(A and B) = p(A) * p(B|A) The formula is a little more complicated if your events are dependent, that is if the probability of one event effects another. In order to figure these probabilities out, you must find p(B|A...
Introduction to the Cumulative Probability The cumulative probability is the likelihood that the value of a random variable is within a specific range. P(m ≤ x ≤ n) x is a random variable and m and n are the limits of a specific range. ...
So you need to find the p-value for your hypothesis test. To do so, employ the spreadsheet program Microsoft Excel. Using a simple formula, you can easily determine the p-value for your tests and thereby conclude strong or weak support of the null hypoth
