I did buy that lens specifically for my R5 and I have no need to replace it with the RF version. On the R I didn't stop down for extra sharpness. On the R5 I prefer f/3.2 or f/4.0 over f/2.8, but that's really the pixel peepers approach. At 24Mp you'll be fine wide open...
