I actually bought this one first to try them out. I had sold a 12.5mm Baader Morpheus to fund for it. The 13mm is a really nice Deep Sky eyepiece, but forget about wearing glasses with this one. The eye relief is just too short to take in the entire FOV when viewing through it. ...
In another thread yesterday I saw transmission figures for another modern complex eyepiece. I forget which one. The Red transmission was maybe 5% higher, with green and blue perhaps 1% higher. Basically pretty much the same other than a bit of a drop off in Red, which is consistent with wh...
Even at 66 degrees, this eyepiece seems to be good value if the quality is on par with Morpheus/APM 12.5 etc. Though I understand people's disappointment with the reduced AFoV 66 degrees makes for a decent zoom for planet/lunar enthusiasts as well as anyone into outreach astronomy. Sarkiko...
The 30mm UFF is not the best eyepiece for my wide field observing, but it has many good qualities. Its flat field compliments a flat field refractor so defocus blur at the edges due to field curvature is not seen. It presents very nice stars with minimal aberration down to f/4.8 in a ...
Forms of light scatter in an eyepiece: 1) near on-axis scatter. This is when a small bright star has a strong glow around it. It is hard to discover whether this is the atmosphere, dust/oils on the optics, rough surfaces on the lenses, ...
decent glass that is very special. Mine gets more use than my 45 degree eyepiece tilt BT-82 and BT-127. I find the 90 degree eyepiece tilt a more stable configuration than the 45 and I find 100mm of aperture to be perfect. 82mm is also very nice, but my 100 is getting more us...
Fishhuntmike suggested that he didn’t like the 7mm Oberwerks. I already have a 7mm Nagler T6, so getting a second one would be one option. Do you know if the Naglers would work well with the BT100, and are there any other eyepiece pairs you would suggest?
I think it's pretty hard to go wrong with the 30mm 70 degree UFF. It is a very sharp eyepiece in a scope like yours, It has plenty of eye relief and at 550 grams, it's light and compact compared to other quality ~30mm Widefield eyepieces. ...
Overall I'm quite pleased with the SuperZoom eyepiece. It gives 90-180X, which covers most of my needs. For more FOV a TV Panoptic 24mm works. For higher power a 5 mm 58 degree Olivon eyepiece is used. A Barlow or PowerMate gives even higher magnification. ...
Not relevant to the thread but also looking at the 5t6 nagler 82degrees $335 and wondering how that competes with stray light. There's also the es 4.7mm 82degree $230 as another budget hyperwide option. The 5mm T6 is exemplary--not only a great planetary eyepiece, but fantastic on the...
