I don't know AIX but I think your system is missing the MySQL client library (libmysqlclient). On Red Hat this comes in the MySQL-shared RPM. Perhaps you know how to get/install this for AIX? Or you have the library but the compiler is looking in the wrong place: "-L/usr/local/...
